Admission is completely free as is the &#8220;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gardensbythebay.com.sg\/en\/things-to-do\/calendar-of-events\/garden-rhapsody.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Garden Rhapsody<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8221; music and light show, lasting about fifteen minutes, which I strongly recommend seeing and which takes place daily at 7:45 and 8:45 pm. Again, absolutely not to be missed. What&#8217;s more, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gardensbythebay.com.sg\/en\/things-to-do\/calendar-of-events\/garden-rhapsody.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">show changes frequently<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> so if you have already been there I still recommend checking it out.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the other hand, to enter the Cloud Forest Dome (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/g.page\/cloudforestgbb?share\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) and the Flower Dome (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/g.page\/flowerdomegbb?share\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) you have to pay, these are two giant greenhouses that collect flowers and plants from all over the world, it all looks very cool but $53 for the combo ticket seemed a bit much so I didn&#8217;t go in. Around the bay there are many interesting things to see starting with the iconic Marina Bay Sands (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/jAjJQKojCzV8w2zv5\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), a building consisting of three skyscrapers connected on the top by a ship-shaped structure where the famous infinity pool is located. Inside there is really everything: casino, hotel, shopping mall, conference center, etc. etc. I would recommend taking a walk inside the Marina Bay Mall, it is a very extravagant place, there is even a canal where you can take a boat ride, and some brands such as Louis Vuitton and Apple have set up rather unique stores. If interested, you can go up on the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinabaysands.com\/attractions\/sands-skypark.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiA99ybBhD9ARIsALvZavWYyAeCbsrwBu2z_i5MRIoWHb0szQCS6JWCFsemcpiWHDQHNjBKnI8aAjBJEALw_wcB&amp;gclsrc=aw.ds\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">observation deck<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by paying $25. Here, or somewhere nearby, is where I recommend seeing the &#8220;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinabaysands.com\/attractions\/spectra.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spectra<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8221; light, laser and fountain show that starts daily at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. On Fridays and Saturdays there is an extra show at 10 pm. The area between Pagoda Street (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/RwYS5fwVqnTcvUTj6\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) and Smith Street (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/uregoVZhVLpSFrH57\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) is the prettiest and most touristy but there are plenty of other sites worth visiting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Buddha Tooth Relic Temple <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/Jus9jC2vpYHGyjgVA\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) is impressive both inside and out, and admission is completely free. On the second floor is a hall surrounded by thousands of statues of the Buddha and dedicated to prayer, the second floor was closed to the public during my visit but from what I understand houses a library and a small gallery; on the third floor is a small museum, on the fourth floor is the prized piece that many come to see namely the Buddha&#8217;s tooth relic, and finally on the rooftop is a beautiful garden with a giant prayer wheel in the middle. During my visit it was closed for renovations so I don&#8217;t know if it is worth paying the admission price, which should be $15.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Sri Mariamman Temple (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/eXqHy5CdK5n1KTYn7\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) is the city&#8217;s oldest Hindu shrine. Admission is free but again, although it was still accessible there was restoration work going on so let&#8217;s just say it was not exactly a memorable visit. Open daily from 6 a.m. to noon and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Jamae Mosque (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/KtUtKTAWd6qvLnEi9\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) a stone&#8217;s throw from the Sri Mariamman Temple, founded in 1826 is one of the oldest in the city. Honestly I don&#8217;t think it is particularly impressive but again admission is free.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thian Hock Keng Temple (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/PAS4JhHfPshCUpxx8\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) is the oldest Hokkien temple in Singapore whose name literally means &#8220;Palace of Heavenly Happiness&#8221; and was built with material entirely imported from China and without the use of nails. Between 2011 and 2012 it was extensively renovated but remains an impressive example of Asian architecture. Open daily 8:00 am to 11:00 am and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Renovated and converted into a museum in 1998, it tells the story of the lives of the first Chinese migrants who arrived in Singapore. Admission is free. Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/SvdZH2NFwB8P8vG18\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) is a Hindu temple founded in 1855, one of Singapore&#8217;s oldest. It is really beautiful to photograph and admission is free. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/614TG1ThdoGccEZu7\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) is another Hindu temple among the city&#8217;s oldest. It is open daily from 5:30 a.m. to noon and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. so adjust accordingly. It is named after a Malaysian aristocratic woman who commissioned its construction. It was closed for renovation during my visit so I don&#8217;t know if it deserves a visit or not; before the renovations, admission was free so you have nothing to lose. The Masjid Sultan Mosque (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/nqbvaRP8hEnhzhX3A\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) with its golden domes and giant prayer hall is undoubtedly the most fascinating mosque in the city-state. To this day it is a pleasant place to stroll along the banks of the Singapore River. I also recommend visiting the adjacent Fort Canning Park (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/Ctag3Yi47SitGDYT6\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). The park, built on a hill, served as both the seat of local government and later a military command center for the British. It houses the bunker where the decision to surrender to the Japanese was made, which they subsequently used as their command center during Singapore&#8217;s occupation. I recommend visiting the Fort Canning Centre (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/4mB2EtEWdLgiPcUU8\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) where there is an interesting exhibit that tells the story of what was the city&#8217;s most important hill for years. These facilities, introduced in the 1970s, are nothing more than Singapore&#8217;s answer to the street food chaos that characterizes Southeast Asia. Basically, regulated spaces were created for all the various stalls with common areas for people to consume their food. A meal typically costs between $3-6.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are scattered somewhat throughout the city but let&#8217;s say the average traveler will likely visit only those closest to the center where the main tourist attractions are located. Keep in mind that many of these centers close early in the evening around 7 pm. Some even earlier. These definitely include the Chinatown Complex Market &amp; Food Centre (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/tLMjmdtfqyLR3e8W9\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) which as the name suggests is located in Chinatown across from the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. There are malls on literally every corner along the street. The most iconic, given the particular structure, is probably ION Orchard (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/FFgnhyzM2mRzCFmn7\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). I don&#8217;t think it is anything unmissable but for some it seems to be a highlight of one&#8217;s visit to Singapore.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>Botanical Gardens<\/b><\/h3>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Botanical Gardens (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/2d4nUtLpExgZAixS6\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) in Singapore became a UNESCO site in 2015 and are undoubtedly some of the best maintained I have ever seen. Admission is completely free and you could easily spend hours strolling around but if you want to structure your visit I think it is definitely worth visiting the Rain Forest (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/UXU3SzGvmmtoubvaA\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), one of the few remaining patches of primary rainforest in Singapore since it was almost burned to the ground during the Japanese occupation.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are in Singapore on a Saturday, I recommend attending one of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nparks.gov.sg\/sbg\/visit-us\/guided-tours\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">free tours that are offered by volunteers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. I participated in the &#8220;Rain Forest&#8221; lasting about an hour and found it very educational. At the &#8220;Nassim Entrance&#8221; Visitor Center (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/WFtBS1AjxZgd72j98\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) there is a QR code to use to register. There was no Wi-Fi, and I didn&#8217;t have a local SIM card, but the staff was very kind and shared their mobile hotspot with me. There are over 1000 species of orchids and a greenhouse designed to simulate the conditions of a mountain forest between 1000m and 2000m. All very nice and well-kept.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, don&#8217;t miss what is perhaps the most famous tree of all the gardens, which is the old Tembusu Tree that is over 200 years old and you can find drawn on the back of the $5 bill. If interested, a short distance away is the Heritage Museum (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/UVwsQCivMQBfQEdw7\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) which tells the story of the botanical gardens. I opted for the route described in detail on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alltrails.com\/trail\/singapore\/central\/southern-ridges-and-labrador-park-loop?u=m\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">this page<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which basically excludes Hort Park and Kent Ridge Park from the loop. Doing so covers about 9km, offering enjoyable views of the city and the opportunity to walk through the rainforest. Highlights of this route include Henderson Waves Bridge <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/oACtNrEFDbFt8gMe8\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Singapore&#8217;s tallest pedestrian bridge, and the &#8220;Forest Walk,&#8221; a network of footbridges through Telok Blangah Hill Park&#8217;s forest. In Labrador Nature Reserve, informative boards detail the British coastal fortifications, which proved futile against the Japanese overland attack. If you want to cut it short, you can skip Labrador Nature Reserve and walk to Labrador Park subway (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/RSwmjZqoF153h76d7\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>Changi Airport<\/b><\/h3>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Singapore Airport is considered one of the best in the world and one of the busiest. It may seem absurd to you that it appears on the list of things to see and do in Singapore, but I assure you that it was designed with the idea of making it a real tourist attraction. There is a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.changiairport.com\/en\/discover\/events-at-changi\/st3ps.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">free cinema<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.changiairport.com\/en\/discover\/attractions\/butterfly-garden.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">butterfly house<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and more. You can find the full list of the various attractions on the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jewelchangiairport.com\/en.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">official website<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and a map of the airport on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jewelchangiairport.com\/content\/dam\/jca-project\/Map\/Jewel%20Floor%20Plan%20(Brochure).pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">this page<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Among the free attractions, what I think is really a must-see is the world&#8217;s largest indoor waterfall, at a whopping 40 meters high, &#8220;HSBC Rain Vortex.&#8221; It can be accessed from terminal 2 by following the signs to the &#8220;JEWEL.&#8221; Unfortunately, it only operates from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Therefore, if your time at the airport falls outside these hours, the experience won&#8217;t be as nice, but I&#8217;d still recommend checking it out if your schedule allows. The Shiseido Forest Valley (there are over 3,000 trees and 60,000 shrubs!) surrounding the waterfall is really impressive, it really feels like being in another world. As the name suggests, it is a night zoo where you can clearly see nocturnal animals, the first of its kind. If you decide to visit it, a popular route is the one you find described on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alltrails.com\/trail\/singapore\/central\/bukit-timah-hill?u=m\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">this page<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>Sentosa Island<\/b><\/h3>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sentosa.com.sg\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sentosa Island<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/4KU44rCVdpoxH4MW6\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google Maps<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) is often described as something not to be missed but according to my research that does not seem to be exactly the case. It is an island full of attractions that are often expensive and not particularly interesting in my opinion. There is literally everything including the first and only <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sentosa.com.sg\/en\/things-to-do\/attractions\/universal-studios-singapore\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Universal Studio theme park in Southeast Asia<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Anyway, you can find all the possible activities on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sentosa.com.sg\/en\/things-to-do\/attractions\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">this page<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The best way to get to the island is by the Sentosa Express. You may have read that Singapore provides a tourist pass of which you can find all the relevant information on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thesingaporetouristpass.com.sg\/type-of-passes\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">this page<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Long story short, you can choose from the 1-day one for $10, 2-day one for $16 and 3-day one for $20. Buying it gives you unlimited rides on all public transportation except for some &#8220;special&#8221; forms of transportation, such as the Sentosa Express.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I am probably going against what many people recommend, but I think most travelers would be better off paying for individual rides and avoiding the tourist pass. Even buying the 3-day one which is the cheapest, you would be paying $6.66 per day while paying for individual rides, over 5 days I ended up paying an average of $4.64 per day. Additionally, the card requires a $10 deposit, refundable at designated offices upon pass expiry. These offices aren&#8217;t open 24\/7 and are only available at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transitlink.com.sg\/transitlink-ticket-offices?ty=art&amp;Id=107\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">certain stations<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, adding inconvenience. Furthermore, with the three-day pass, if you arrive at the airport in the evening and use it to reach the city, you&#8217;ll have already used your first day by midnight. Basically, I recommend using a contactless card to pay for individual rides; individual tickets have not been sold for a few years now. The rides are so frequent that even in rush hour it never felt busy. The stations, and the carriages, are clean and air-conditioned. Overall, the system is so efficient that it is a pleasure to use.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>Buses in Singapore<\/b><\/h4>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In general, buses go where the subway does not, but I personally have never needed them. If you limit yourself to the main attractions discussed in this guide, the subway is all you need. In any case, all the lines are seamlessly integrated into google maps search.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>Taxis in Singapore<\/b><\/h4>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I didn&#8217;t take any taxi during my stay but according to my research, not surprisingly, taxi drivers are honest so I wouldn&#8217;t worry too much about scams that might happen elsewhere. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.grab.com\/my\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grab<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is by far the most popular car sharing app but <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uber.com\/jp\/ja\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Uber<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> also works perfectly well.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4325 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ilbackpacker.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/DSC06333-Edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1110\" height=\"740\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ilbackpacker.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/DSC06333-Edit.jpg 1110w, https:\/\/ilbackpacker.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/DSC06333-Edit-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ilbackpacker.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/DSC06333-Edit-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ilbackpacker.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/DSC06333-Edit-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" \/>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Arab Street.<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n<div id=\"cost\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/div>\r\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>Backpacking Singapore: costs<\/b><\/h2>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How much does a trip to Singapore cost? During my 5-night stay I spent exactly $295.13, at the exchange rate of the publication of this article, \u20ac206.95 or \u20ac41.39 per day. It must be said, however, that I paid very little ($172 total) for my certainly not exceptional hostel booked well in advance &#8211; since Singapore was the first leg of the trip and therefore I knew precisely when I would arrive. Also, I basically don&#8217;t consume alcohol and ate almost exclusively in hawker centers. By the time you start adding a few drinks and eating in nicer restaurants, even a low-cost traveler can easily get to spend over \u20ac50 a day. If you want a private room, go out in the city&#8217;s sky bars, get in and out of taxis, you can easily spend even more than 200\u20ac a day.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>Cost of transportation in Singapore<\/b><\/h4>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you travel by subway or bus, transportation costs will be a minor part of your budget. My total subway spending was $23.18, or just over 3\u20ac per day. Inside a Hawker center you can easily eat a great meal for $3-$6. In some nicer restaurants expect to pay $15-20 and up.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>Cost of accommodation in Singapore<\/b><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accommodation will likely be your biggest expense. If your plans allow, book as far in advance as possible. Even the cheapest hostels can exceed $50 per night if booked last minute. I <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">withdrew at the airport from a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HSBC ATM which does not <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">charge fees, but from what I have read no local bank charges fees so one is as good as the other.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As for sim cards, there are four companies operating in Singapore: <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Singtel<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.starhub.com\/personal.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">StarHub<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.m1.com.sg\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">M1 Singapore<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/simba.sg\/home\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SIMBA<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. There are also numerous virtual operators. Prepaid SIM cards in Singapore range from SGD 8 to SGD 50, but even around SGD 10 can get you 100 GB of data, likely sufficient for normal use, especially considering Singapore&#8217;s excellent free Wi-Fi coverage. I didn&#8217;t even buy a SIM card for my short stay. Organic Maps with offline maps is enough for navigating the city unless you have a specific need for constant connectivity. If you still want a SIM card, purchase one at the airport or any of the many outlets around town, including 7-Eleven stores.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">If your phone supports eSIMs and you prefer immediate internet access without buying a local SIM, consider services like <a href=\"https:\/\/airalo.pxf.io\/c\/1433143\/1268485\/15608\">Airalo<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/go.ubigi.com\/jeLNDP\">Ubigi<\/a>. However, note that eSIMs typically cost more per gigabyte than local SIMs, and their local partner may not always offer the best coverage. Most travelers would likely benefit from a local SIM (or even a local eSIM), but consider your specific needs, as exceptions exist. Clearly, <a href=\"https:\/\/ilbackpacker.it\/en\/start-here\/safety\/backpacking-safety\/\">common sense must be used as it is anywhere else in the world<\/a>, but I assure you that you can feel safe at any time of the day or night. I don&#8217;t think I have ever visited a city where I felt safer. I highly doubt you will have any kind of problem.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That said, part of Singapore&#8217;s success in creating a safe and clean city also lies in the fact that there are strict laws and punishments even for innocent actions such as feeding pigeons, using chewing gum (it was literally banned in 1992!), jaywalking, smoking outside designated areas, spitting on the ground, and many other small &#8220;offenses&#8221; are punished with large fines. Drug use and possession can get you into serious trouble; drug trafficking is punishable by the death penalty!
